Standard vs All-Laser LASIK

In traditional LASIK, the surgeon utilizes a surgical blade called a microkeratome to create a thin, hinged flap in the clear surface of the eye (cornea). The surgeon then lifts the flap and applies a laser treatment to reshape the eye to correct vision. With all-laser or bladeless LASIK, the flap is created with a femtosecond laser instead of the manual blade. Both procedures are considered very successful and effective in correcting vision, but each doctor and practice may have their own preferences to which technology they feel brings their patients the best outcomes.
