Contoura™ Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction
LASIK and other laser vision correction procedures have revolutionized the field of ophthalmology, allowing millions of people all over the world to improve their vision and reduce their reliance on glasses and contact lenses. Since the 1980s, LASIK technology and treatment techniques have continued to improve as leading specialists have built on what has come before to make the procedure as precise, accurate, and effective as possible. With the recent approval of Contoura™ Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction, the next generation of treatment is here.
The Eye Institute of Utah, one of the largest eye and vision care practices in the nation, is now offering Contoura™ Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction here at our state-of-the-art facilities. Our LASIK surgeons can perform Contoura™ Vision as part of a standard LASIK procedure for patients with certain visual refractive errors. This innovative treatment option is designed to improve one’s quality of vision better than has ever been possible before.
What is Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction?
Contoura™ Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction is a highly advanced laser platform designed to optimize the corneal surface of the eye, which can ultimately lead to even greater vision quality results from LASIK surgery. Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction takes LASIK further than the standard treatment in that the technology does not just treat your eyeglass prescription; in fact, it utilizes advanced diagnostic techniques to find and record imperfections in both the optics of the cornea and the cornea’s curvature. When these measurements are combined with the eyeglass prescription, the chances are greater that a better-focusing surface for the eyes can be attained. Based on the results of clinical studies, Contoura™ Vision helped approximately 90% of individuals enhance their vision to the point of seeing more clearly without glasses than they did with glasses.
Contoura™ Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction can be performed in conjunction with the advanced WaveLight® laser system here at our practice to customize treatment for each patient’s unique needs.
