Vision Before and After LASIK

Vision before LASIK

LASIK is designed to help those with common eye conditions that preclude them from seeing clearly without the aid of corrective eyewear such as glasses or contact lenses. If your vision is affected by nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism – what’s known as refractive errors – you may be a candidate for LASIK laser vision correction from our Utah and Wyoming vision care team. Patients must have a stable eyesight prescription for at least 12 months before undergoing a LASIK procedure, and your eyes must be healthy and free of disease to qualify as a LASIK candidate.

Vision after LASIK

The Eye Institute utilizes blade-free, Wavefront Optimized LASIK technology for all of our LASIK procedures.  We believe this provides you with rapid recovery and an even greater chance for successful results. After LASIK, your vision should start showing immediate improvement, and continue to improve over the next six months. In many cases, patients have achieved 20/20 or better vision and eliminated their need for corrective eyewear. In 2008, an analysis of scientific publications by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery indicated that 95.4 percent of LASIK patients worldwide reported success.

While LASIK has proven to be extraordinarily successful in improving vision in patients all over the world, the procedure is not for everyone. And like all surgical procedures, there are risks and complications involved.

The Eye Institute will be happy to provide you with more information on our own success rates with LASIK and whether you might be a candidate for the procedure. Please contact our LASIK surgeons in Utah for details, or to schedule an appointment.
