We are excited to announce that Dr. Robert J. Cionni, Medical Director and cataract specialist here at The Eye Institute of Utah, has been elected as the upcoming President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). ASCRS is an educational organization that focuses on the advancement of ophthalmic surgery, with a specific focus on cataract and anterior segment surgery, and refractive surgeries including LASIK and ICL implantation. Dr. Cionni has been a member of the organization for his entire career (more than 25 years). He currently serves as vice-president.

“ASCRS has been so important to my career development,” explained Dr. Cionni in a recent press release by ASCRS. “ASCRS quickly became one of my main avenues for learning about the newest techniques and technologies that now provide improved outcomes for my patients.”

Dr. Cionni will assume his role as president in April of 2015 during the Annual ASCRS Symposium and Congress in San Diego, CA. We’re honored to have such a talented and world-renowned surgeon leading our team here at The Eye Institute of Utah. Congratulations Dr. Cionni!
